How to Choose a Healer

A guide for seekers exploring energy healing for the first time, or looking for a new practitioner.

What is energy healing?

Energy healing is a broad term for practices that work with the body's subtle energy systems to promote well-being, relaxation, and balance. Modalities include pranic healing, reiki, chakra balancing, sound healing, breathwork, and many others.

Each practitioner brings their own training, experience, and approach. There is no single "right" modality. What matters most is finding a healer you feel safe with and a practice that resonates with you.

Your rights as a seeker

When working with any healer, you have the right to:

  • End any session at any time. You do not need to justify your decision. A good healer will respect your boundaries without question.
  • Full confidentiality. Anything you share during a session should remain private. Healers on EaseHere agree to our code of conduct, which includes respecting your privacy.
  • Report concerns. If something feels wrong, you can report it directly through any healer profile. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours.
  • Ask questions before committing. A trustworthy healer will welcome your questions about their training, approach, and what to expect.

Red flags to watch for

Most energy healers are sincere practitioners. However, be cautious if a healer:

  • Guarantees cures or specific outcomes. No healer can promise to cure a disease or guarantee a specific result. Be wary of claims like "I can heal your cancer" or "guaranteed results in 3 sessions."
  • Uses scare tactics. Phrases like "you have a dark energy attachment" or "if you do not continue treatment something bad will happen" are manipulative. A good healer empowers, never frightens.
  • Pressures you to buy packages upfront. It is reasonable to offer packages, but you should never feel pressured to commit to multiple sessions before trying one.
  • Requests payment outside the platform. For your protection, all bookings on EaseHere should go through our platform. Off-platform payments bypass our cancellation and refund protections.
  • Tells you to stop medical treatment. Energy healing is complementary. Any practitioner who tells you to stop medication or ignore your doctor is acting irresponsibly.

What to expect in your first session

Every healer is different, but a first session typically includes:

  • A brief conversation about what brings you to the session and any intentions you have.
  • The healer will explain their approach and what you might experience (warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or nothing at all).
  • The healing portion, which may involve you sitting or lying down comfortably (in-person) or simply relaxing at home (online).
  • A closing conversation where the healer shares observations and you can ask questions.

There is no obligation to book again. Take your time to reflect on how you feel before deciding on next steps.

When to seek medical help

Energy healing can be a wonderful complement to medical care, but it is not a replacement. If you are experiencing physical symptoms, mental health concerns, or are in crisis, please contact a qualified healthcare professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency services immediately.
